Other Professional Experiences
Student Ambassador
2019/2020 school year - University of Mary
I give campus tours to prospective students to help aid them in their college decision. I also help with various events on campus including orientation and welcome week. This has been a great opportunity to be more involved and to represent the community that I have been proud to be a part of for the past three years.
Math Tutor
2019/2020 school year
I have been tutoring two fifth graders from my previous practicum class.
I have helped them to improve their math skills by assisting them with their homework and helping them study for upcoming tests and quizzes. I have seen a lot of growth with these particular students and have noticed that my motivation, has really helped them to feel more comfortable with the subject.
AVID Tutor
Fall, 2019
Bismarck Public Schools - Diverse group of Freshmen and Sophomores in high school.
Each week the students would come to class with a point of confusion from any subject area and the class would break into small groups depending on the content. From there, I would lead the discussion and the students would help each other solve their various questions. This was a great experience for me because I was able to work with an age group outside of my comfort zone and act as a mentor and role model for these students.
Fort Abraham Lincoln
Fall, 2019
Through the course EDU 367 Cultural Diversity, my classmates and I were given the opportunity to lead a field trip at Fort Lincoln to 4th graders from the Light of Christ school district. This was a really fun day and the students were able to learn a lot about the Native Culture. I taught a history lesson where the students walked around the visitor center and read the different exhibits with their peers and group leader.
St. Bernard Mission School
Fall, 2o19 - University of Mary Day of Service
My classmates and I headed to Standing Rock to visit the St. Bernard Mission School. We spent the day with the students making them feel valued and excited about learning. We played with them at recess, read books with them, and ended the day with a big game of floor hockey.
